Châtel is situated in the beautiful Abondance Valley only 90 minutes from Geneva airport and is an ideal location for both summer and winter holidays.
The village has maintained it’s character over the years and still remains an alpine farming community at heart. During the spring, summer and autumn the local Abondance cows can be seen in the pastures in and around the village.
The chalet is situated only 1 mile from the heart of the village with its excellent restaurants and shops, and less than ¾ mile from the Linga ski area. A regular, free bus service connecting all the major ski areas of Châtel operates during the winter and summer seasons. The bus stops less than 100 yards from the chalet .
Châtel is part of the large Portes du Soleil ski area – a linked area of pistes in both France and Switzerland.
In summer there are a series of excellent mountain bike trails in and around Châtel, a spa and swimming pool complex, six hole compact golf course, mini golf, archery, pétangue, tennis, bob luge, fishing, rock climbing, horse riding and lots of well marked walks to suit all ages and levels of fitness. For the more adventurous, paragliding as well as white water rafting on the nearby River Dranse is available. For the really adventurous ‘Fantasticable’ offers a 100km/hr journey at up to 240 metres above Plaine-Dranse.
Other views of the area can be found by visiting the Châtel Webcam.
